Kent delegates show the Dunkirk spirit at copywriting workshop
Thursday, March 1st, 2007A major accident causing widespread gridlock in the Maidstone and Medway area could not dampen the ‘Dunkirk spirit’ of those who attended the Copywriting Workshop organised by the Kent branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (Kent CIM).
Over 80 people from across Kent had booked their place on this course, delivered by Richard Groom of the Peterborough Copywriting Bureau on the 28 February 2007 at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood. Despite the mayhem on the roads, two thirds of the delegates managed to brave the M20 to be inspired by Richard, even though the workshop started two hours late!
Ian Lockyer, Chairman of the Kent CIM said: “No-one could have foreseen the pandemonium that arose from the accident, and I would like to thank the team at the Hop Farm for staying on; keeping the coffee flowing and for keeping the guests well fed.”
He added: “Despite the late start, Richard demonstrated a number of very useful copywriting techniques. The workshop gave us a number of tricks including: how to beat writer’s block; new ways to make website text easy to read and easy techniques to get your readers hooked in the first few paragraphs. There were several exercised for the delegates to get their teeth stuck into and many brought their own marketing literature to work on.”
Richard Groom commented on the day: “This ended up being one of the best workshops I have done for CIM branches. Maybe it was everyone pulling together against all odds out there, or just maybe that people in Kent are especially friendly and participate!”
