Small Business Group
Learn from the Professionals
We are keen to raise the profile and recognition of the professionalism of CIM members by sharing knowledge and expertise with the small business community throughout Kent. Using professional marketers and aimed at small and medium businesses, the ‘Simply Better Marketing’ programme will help people to make the most of marketing resources to grow their business.
A database of Kent-based Chartered Marketer professionals has been set up to deliver the programme. The volunteers have experience across all sorts of industries and size of business with a number of them running their own companies, so they will be able to relate to the issues that small businesses face. They will be available to deliver training across all aspects of marketing, from strategy and planning, market and product development, through to promotion and selling.
Organisations needing speakers to deliver marketing education programmes in Kent are invited to contact us by email at sharon@cimkent.co.uk to discuss how we can help. If you are a company with its own in-house marketing team, or a management board who are keen to develop a deeper understanding of marketing, we can also discuss visiting your premises to give practical tutorials.
Marketing on the menu for breakfast
Following on from the highly successful first Simple Better Marketing initiative which was launched through a series of business breakfasts, the 2010 initiative will continue to offer practical marketing help and advice. Jointly organised in partnership with Business Link and Canterbury Christ Church University at Hall Place Enterprise Centre, Harbledown, just outside Canterbury, this year the events will also be staged in Wrotham and Ashford.
Free to attend, they will reveal the simple things businesses can do for themselves to improve their marketing and, by attending, you will benefit from expert guidance into the basic principles of marketing and a free follow-up consultation to get personal advice on your marketing challenges.
To register your interest in attending please email contact details to sharon@cimkent.co.uk.

How important is the internet to your business? Whatever the answer to that is today, chances are it is growing in importance with each passing month. It is no longer just enough to have a website, you need to know how to make it really work for your business. You need to stand out and be found. What about social media and networking or email? This is an increasingly critical and sophisticated environment and whether you choose to do-it-yourself or to engage a specialist agency you need to be well informed and up to speed to be able to make the right decisions for your business.
Subject: Internet marketing – how to increase sales success
Date: Tues 9th March 2010 (Ramada Hotel, Tunbridge Wells); Weds 10th March 2010 (Ashford International Hotel, Ashford)
No matter what industry you work in, the influence of the internet is growing and your website is increasingly important as a virtual sales tool to unknown potential buyers. If your marketing is working hard to generate interest then your sales activities need to be equally strong to convert that interest to purchase. This workshop will look at ways to increase sales from your online marketing by developing a sales strategy that is right for your business.
