How to Improve Your Presentational Skills

The Kent branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, once again played host to Presentation Trainer and Stage Hypnotist, Ian Price of Business Training Direct.  Hosting the session, ‘How to improve your presentational skills’, Ian immediately asked the audience what tips they wanted to take away from the lecture.  Did he deliver; well of course he did in an informative and entertaining way.

In his presentation he:

• Stressed the importance of a good vocal and physical warm up.  He illustrated this by getting the whole audience to get up out of their seats and do a work out with him!
• Demonstrated techniques to help the terrified get over their nerves.  This included several breathing exercises.
• Showed the audience how to make an immediate impression by using just a simple opening routine.
• Demonstrated how to connect with an audience and develop rapport.
• How to transform a presentation by changing the pitch of the voice, pace of the delivery and using appropriate pauses.
• The importance of preparation and making sure you meet the audience needs.
• Suggested ways of keeping on track during a presentation by the use of cue cards.
