November Branch Meeting – ‘Death by PowerPoint’
Thursday, November 30th, 2006‘PowerPoint should never take centre stage in your presentations’ said Ian Price from Business Training Direct at our November meeting held at the Hop Farm Country Park.
Ian provided an entertaining presentation which covered the use and abuse of PowerPoint and examined how to use PowerPoint effectively to enhance a speech. In his presentation he also included a run down of the 10 top tips for dealing with PowerPoint.
‘Of paramount importance’, said Ian, ‘is that the speaker should take centre stage and PowerPoint should only be used to enhance the message that the speaker is trying to make. An audience will have come and possibly paid to listen to a speaker. They should not end up reading the presentation from the screen…. that will put an audience to sleep.’
Ian Lockyer, CIM Kent Branch Chairman commented, ‘Ian delivered the presentation with great style and enthusiasm; there wasn’t a single moment when the audience weren’t taking notes. This is the type of presentation that we want to bring to our membership. It was a content rich presentation, which provided our membership with new tools or a different slant on looking at things.’
