Are you working too hard to win new business?
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006This two hour workshop, held in Maidstone on 24 October by Canterbury-based marketing communications agency, SEA Ltd, attracted 20 companies from a variety of industry sectors including construction, travel, legal, and financial services. Engaging staff, understanding customers’ perceptions and needs and monitoring competitors’ activities were some of the key issues flagged up for discussion by SEA managing director, Simon Edridge.
Participants were introduced to Edward de Bono’s ‘Six Thinking Hats’ as a brainstorming tool and invited to conduct a hard-hitting self-assessment company health check to ascertain how their businesses and staff were really performing. Examples of feedback from SEA marcomms audits effectively highlighted the need for businesses to know what customers are really thinking and saying about their products and services and how this information can be used to fine tune marketing communications activities.
Delegates were invited to share their views and experiences with the SEA team. This included a quick-fire review of national newspapers adverts featuring products or services used by delegates, and comparing promises with delivery. One major financial institution in particular wouldn’t have been too happy with the feedback! The workshop ended with a brief look at best practice relating to the design and development of website and brochures, followed by a quick Q&A session.
