Branch Events – Planned Activities for the Forthcoming Year
Our 2010/2011 planned events are as follows…
Navigating a Social Media Crisis (13th October 2010)
Taking place in Old Sessions House at Canterbury Christchurch University, the Kent Annual Marketing Lecture this year looks at how social media has changed the face of crisis management.
With 24 hour news and digital communication channels now an aspect of daily life, the face of public relations has changed forever. Rather than managing a crisis, it is now more than likely that, unless you are vigilant and quick, you will have to react to not only the original crisis, but also the critical messages that your consumers and stakeholders publish.
How you handle these will impact directly on brand perception and ultimately your bottom line. Attendees at this will benefit from the expertise of Paul Charles and gain an insight into how to strategically use the plethora of tools available to you so that crises can be controlled.
CPD: 1 hour

Writing marketing materials: the essentials and beyond (17th November 2010)
Taking place in Ashford, at the Invicta Chamber of Commerce, this workshop gives you the chance to brush up on, or learn, the art of copywriting.
It doesn’t feature highly in any marketing academic qualification syllabus, but copywriting is a vital element of most marketing programmes or campaigns. From brochures to emails and adverts to websites, words play the most important role of all in marketing communications.
Unfortunately however, many people when faced with a blank screen and a deadline find it difficult to know where to start – and often even more difficult to edit their initial ideas into something that gets the message across and inspires the desired response.
At this workshop, copywriter Richard Groom shares some of the most effective techniques he has found and developed over the past 15 years of creating marketing materials. He will take you through the three phases of deciding what content to cover, writing and editing the main messages, and then fine tuning words for different media.
CPD: 3.5 hours
